Chamonix: Climbing World Cup 2020 Cancelled

Initially scheduled on 11-13 July 2020, the Climbing World Cup in Chamonix was later postponed in August, because of the coronavirus COVID-19 restrictions.

However, the Club des Sports de Chamonix has announced on 16 June 2020 that the 2020 edition of the Climbing World Cup in Chamonix is cancelled.

"A postponement had been studied for the beginning of August but the health and organizational constraints imposed do not allow us to ensure the holding of this event in healthy and viable conditions, despite its already strongly established at an international level interest and reputation", declared the Chamonix Club des Sports.

In collaboration with the city of Chamonix, the Club des Sports de Chamonix has been organizing successful climbing competitions for over 18 years.

Residents and tourists alike are welcomed to admire an amazing show and cheer for their champion, free of charge. The climbing wall is placed outside, at the foot of the Mont-Blanc massif, offering breathtaking views.

The Club des Sports de Chamonix invites everyone to the next edition of the Chamonix Climbing World Cup, from 11 to 13 July 2021. Dates to be confirmed.

Climbing World Cup in Briançon is confirmed

It's official, Briançon will welcome a stage of the 2020 World Cup in difficult climbing, as confirmed by the International Federation on 26 June 2020.

The 2020 World Cup calendar:

  • Briançon: August 21-22 (difficulty);
  • Salt Lake City (USA): September 11-13 (bouldering and speed);
  • Seoul (South Korea): October 7-11 (bouldering, difficulty and speed, dates to be confirmed);
  • Chongqing (China): October 23-25 ​​(bouldering and speed);
  • Wujiang (China): October 30-November 1 (bouldering and speed);
  • Xiamen (China): December 4-6 (difficulty and speed).
