Wednesday 26 January 2022, the list of registrants for UTMB® Mont-Blanc 2022 was unveiled.

As expected, François D’Haene, the title holder and four-time winner of the event, it will not be present this edition. The Savoyard will go head-to-head with Kilian Jornet, himself a three-time winner of the event, on the Hardrock 100 in the United States a month earlier.

But UTMB 2022 promiss to be exciting:

  • The return of Spanish ultra-trailer Pau Capell, winner in 2019 and recovering after knee surgery in 2021.
  • Savoyard Aurélien Dunand-Pallaz will also participate in the UTMB® Mont-Blanc 2022 in Chamonix.
  • We find again Mathieu Blanchard from Vaucluse (3rd) and Germain Grangier from Isère (5th).
  • Xavier Thevenard, three-time winner of the event, will try again, after dropping out in 2021.

On the foreign side:

  • The American Jim Walmsley will try his luck once again to try to overcome the curse of the USA on the event.
  • The German Hannes Namberger (6th in 2021) will be there.
  • The Russian Dmitry Mityaev (abandoned in 2021) another name on the list this year

In women category:
